Born and raised in Northern California, Jamie jumped at the opportunity to explore the SoCal life as an undergrad the University of California, Irvine. She graduated in 2006 with degrees in both dance and psychology and moved to NYC to pursue a career in dance.
In 2010, she completed her first teacher training at Pure Yoga and began teaching immediately. Seeking to deepen her practice and knowledge, she went on to study with Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee and hasn't left their side since 2012. After 4 years as a mentor at Yoga Shanti, she is now a lead faculty member in their 200 hr teacher training program. She calls Rodney and Colleen her “Yoga Parents” and is extremely grateful for their honest support and wisdom.
Self-study, asana, meditation and philosophy all inform her daily practice and teaching. You can expect a mixture of these qualities in her classes as well as an inspiring playlist.
In addition to teaching private, public and corporate classes, she is a guest teacher on Yoga for Bad People retreats. For a full schedule of classes go to www.jamielugo.com. Check out what she and her 3 chihuahuas are up to on instagram @jamielugoyoga.
